In Another World...

“……my mother would not bow to societal bullies.

She would not buy into mediocrity; instead, she would embrace singlehood, in a bid to explore, know, and love herself.

She would not wait for her “one long-lost love”.

She would prioritise herself and accept that sometimes we don’t end up with the people we thought we couldn’t live without.

She would not think there was only one man made for her.

She would understand that sometimes it’s okay to start again, to love again.

She would believe that love can be found in unexpected places.

She would embrace 30 as a new beautiful era, not one needing to be patched.

She would not think there’s a biological time limit for motherhood.

She would not settle for the bare minimum.

She wouldn’t sacrifice her happiness to have me.

She wouldn’t need to apologise to me about the father she gave me.

She wouldn’t hold on to having me as her ultimate reward for her sacrifice because it simply wouldn’t matter in that world.

She wouldn’t be wondering; she would be living."
